My boss, Zac, asked me how to pronounce my name.

“Well,” I told him. “The correct way would be Naedin but only malays call me that. Normal people call me Nardin and accented people call me Nerdin.”

“Correct is Naedin,” he said.

“Yeah,” I said.

“Naedin,” he said again.

“Uh, yeah,” I said again. “Why?”

“Chai and I were arguing the other day over this,” he informed me with a smile. (Chai, by the way, is my other boss.)

“Yeah. He insists that Nardin is correct.” I said.

“It’s not. It’s Naedin.”

“Yeah.”

“That Chai insists he’s right when it’s wrong. It’s Naedin.”

I started to laugh.

My two bosses are arguing over the pronunciation of my name…
