Stupid Camp

I must say I was excited yet apprehensive about the RDC for SPSU.

Waiting
Jian Wei, Eric, no idea, Fairulz, Jeremy, Nizam and Chewy.
Waiting before the start of the camp.

I was excited because, hey! It’s a camp after all. And for the first time I’ll be camping with the other freshmen (affectionately known as ‘freshies’). I was apprehensive because I was afraid (again) of being ostracized and also, because I’ve been through RDC before three years ago.

As my Daddy would say, there is no real ‘kick’ in going through all the activities again.

But I went as a camper because I found out that:

  • In order to be an executive committee in the 45th Council, I had to go through RDC
  • I would be working with these people if I do make it into the council and bonding with them during the camp would be a good start
  • The Hon. Gen. Secretary of the 44th Council (I refuse to mention who) is not happy that I’m a supposed-to-be-graduate-but-a-year-one-again is going as a camper-helper

I was disappointed to find that my group consisted of really quiet people that could not back me up when I needed the morale. True, most of them were from FO but they were the quiet campers. The enthusiastic and hyper ones are placed in the first three groups. I was in the last group.

When I found out about the grouping, I was pretty near tears and I wanted to bawl my eyes out. But I knew that this would be noted down on my performance by Miss Hon. Gen. Secretary. I decided to think positively before I could break down.

My spirits were lifted considerably after finding out that Alwin Ah Beng was placed in my group. However, I found out that when his morale is high, it’s really high. But when it’s low, it’s really low.

Camp would be a total drag if not for people like Alwin, Justin, Geraldine, Nicole, Shafiq, Ghalid, Yong Xuan and the rest of FADU.

Thank God for freshies.
