“Hey, you free tomorrow?”
That’s what Sam texted me yesterday evening.
“Yeah, why?” I replied.
“Wanna dinner?” he asked.
“Sure. Wanna movie too?”
“Ok but I don’t find any nice movies to watch now.”
“How about Madagascar?”
“Ok. Sounds good. See ya at 2.30 p.m. at Dover MRT.”
Today, I had to enrol into SP and managed to get Terence didi to accompany me throughout the whole enrolment which took about two hours to complete.
I had to have my papers checked and verified, take my picture for my school admin card and get the lanyard for my card. It all sounds too simple, like a process that could just take 15 minutes. Guess it was the queue that caused the delay. My queue ticket read “44″.
After enrolment, we went to (Students’) Union to play carrom and badminton before I left to meet Sam.
Sam and I went to Great World City’s GV to catch the 3.30 p.m. show.
Madagascar was wonderful to me despite reading the critic’s reviews. I think my favourite characters would be the psychotic penguins. They kept me in fits of laughter. I find the movie touching as it’s sad to see the Lion trying to not eat his best friend, the Zebra, in the wild as the Lion had no food for days. I find it funny when the Lion started seeing everyone as juicy steaks, ready to be eaten. Stop reading before I spoil the whole movie for you. What are you waiting for? Go catch it. Now.
After that, we had dinner at Jack’s Place, this rather fancy restaurant that neither him nor I have been to before.
He told me that dinner was on him and told me to order whatever I liked. Usually, when anyone says that to me, I’ll tend to order one of the cheapest items on the menu as I’m embarrassed to have the other paying for me. Come to think about it, when buying the movie tickets, he told me to stand aside and let him get them. Later did I find out why.
Anyway, he ordered a promotional meal, Chicken and Catfish, while I had a House Sandwich.
After the meal, as we sat back to relax, (and to rest our really bloated tummies) he asked me, “Do you know what’s the special occasion?”
Huh? I thought. He got me right there.
“Um,” I started. “Well, it’s May the 27th. I have no idea what special occasion today is besides Singapore Family Eating Day.”
“Haha… Actually, it’s to celebrate your birthday. I’m not free on that day itself so I thought I could celebrate it earlier with you.”
Stunned. I just stopped there and started at him with wide eyes and my mind did another Huh?. I was really touched and surprised too. I did not expect this from him.
What a nice surprise pre-celebration for my upcoming 20th. Who knows? This could be my year.
